How to Design with Vacumet Products
The same design techniques used for white paper are suitable for our products. Print graphics integrated with our products produce spectacular results. Combining transparent and opaque inks can create a three dimensional appearance. Opaque white inks may be used to control the intensity of the holographic effects that will show through the final graphics.

Suggestions for Testing Your Design "In House"
Always test your system before starting on a project. Systems that require heat may affect the finish of metallized papers.
Oil or alcohol-based products give the best results.
Metallized papers are sensitive to some spray adhesives. Photographic mounting sprays work better than all-purpose adhesives.
Using clear acetate on your color printer is an alternative to expensive color outputting. To see your artwork with a holographic background, print directly onto acetate and then overlay the acetate on the metallized paper. Opaque desired areas on the reverse side of the acetate to mask the metallized effect. This technique will allow you to control the final image. This approach allows evaluation of your design because you can quickly substitute various patterns or finishes under the acetate.
For "pre-press" proofing options, consult your printer.
Note about Shim Lines
Shim lines are present in all holographic material. They are the result of the gap formed when one pattern is joined to another to create a sheet or roll of holographic imagery. With HoloPRISM® holographic paper, this gap will be no more than 1/32" wide. Shim lines typically occur every 48" downweb and 32" crossweb. The impact of shim lines can be reduced or even eliminated with proper layouts and pattern requests. Please contact us for more information on specific shim sizes at (800) 343-6977 or (508) 541-7700 or vacumetinfo@vacumet.com.
